Finnish Grammar: 10.3 Me passive

In spoken language, the me form is in (ta)an/(tä)än form (passive form of the verb).

Me ollaan opiskelijoita. = Me olemme opiskelijoita.

Me asutaan Vantaalla. = Me asumme Vantaalla.

Me ei asuta Helsingissä. = Me emme asu Helsingissä.

The positive past simple me form is usually replaced by the -(t)tiin form (the passive form of the verb).

Me oltiin risteilyllä Tallinnassa. = Me olimme risteilyllä Tallinnassa.

Eilen me lähdettiin reissulle Nuuksioon. = Eilen me lähdimme reissulle Nuuksioon.
