Expressions of time that include a preposition:

i dagtoday
i morsethis morning
i morgontomorrow
i årthis year
i fjol/förra åretlast year
på 2000-taletin the 21st century
i början/slutet av åretat the beginning/end of the year
på sistonelately

Use the preposition på in time expressions when talking about (i.a.):

  • weekdays in general: Jag spelar ishockey på onsdag.
  • seasons in general: På sommaren ska jag spela boboll.

Use the preposition i in time expressions, when talking about (i.a.):

  • months: I juni är det varmt.
  • previous weekdays (+s): I fredags hälsade jag på mina släktingar.

Note:

  • i tio år = for ten years
  • på tio år = in five years
  • inom tio år = within ten years
  • två gånger i veckan/månaden = twice a week/month
  • två gånger om dagen = twice a day
