The English language

The English language is a Germanic language that originated in England. Over 400 million people speak it as their first language. In addition, one billion people speak it as a second language.

English is the number one language in science, technology, business, diplomacy, entertainment, the internet and travel. If you want to learn a language that will be useful wherever you go, choose English.

You can never go wrong with studying English. Start now!

Should I learn British or American English?

British English used to be the common standard in education. In recent years, American English has become more prominent, and these days the choice between the two is a matter of taste.

Most words are the same in British and American English, although they are often pronounced slightly differently.

Native English speakers can tell the two language versions apart, but understand both. Elsewhere in the world it doesn’t really matter which version you speak.

However, it is better to choose either British or American English, because learning just one language version will be easier and you will sound more fluent.

With WordDive, you can learn either version of English. We recommend choosing the one that is more familiar to you or the one you prefer.

Learn English grammar

Learning English grammar is an essential part of learning the language. Understanding grammar will help you on your way to becoming a more proficient user of both spoken and written English.

Once you understand the basics of grammar, you will be able to form clear, coherent and understandable sentences, and communicate effortlessly and efficiently in English.

Do you already know English prepositions and irregular verbs? Revise English grammar efficiently on our grammar pages!

Using WordDive, I’ve built a comprehensive vocabulary in Swedish and learned how to use it in everyday life. The best things about WordDive are the clear course structure and the guidelines on how to study and proceed in order to achieve the goal. It’s easy to use WordDive alongside studies and work.

I’ve made massive progress with German vocabulary and grammar in a short period of time. You can learn the language in different ways: by writing, listening and with the help of the example posts. The app is very user-friendly and it’s easy to study whenever possible.

WordDive is one of the best online language courses that I have ever used. I thought I was really bad at languages, but with WordDive I have learned more than 300 study items permanently in a short time. Sometimes I study more than 2 hours per day. Even then it doesn’t feel like I’m spending a long time studying because it’s so fun and rewarding.

The efficiency is way better than it would be in school. The program tells you when you are making progress or when you are too tired and should take a break. WordDive has become a daily companion for me. I enjoy studying and becoming better. It’s also nice to notice that you can learn new things even at this age.

WordDive is very addictive, and the words stick to your mind. As a researcher of digitalization, I can say that WordDive is an excellent example of gamification, because in WordDive, the motivation comes from outside the game: improving your language skills. It’s nice to attend meetings now that I can express myself properly.
